I have been to this restaurant once before a couple of years ago and loved our food. So for my husband's big 4-0 birthday, we dined at Gianfranco's in Snoqualmie. They are open daily only for dinner from 4:30-9:30pm. I'm so torn in this review because we had a great experience, but the food was not as great this time around. I have no idea what I ordered last time. It might have been on the chef's featured menu, which changes. All I remember was that it was so delicious and I wish I knew what it was because I could have requested it.
First off, this restaurant is small. So definitely make reservations on a weekend. We didn't and it was packed on a Friday night. We were lucky to get a table. It's a really cute place with nice ambiance and décor. There were 2 women working the floor although I think one might have been the manager and the other the waitress. They both accommodated our table. They were super friendly and we really enjoyed their customer service. The prices are medium to high, but the servings are pretty generous.
Birthday boy ordered the Manicotti (17.95). He loved it! He had ordered this dish once before and really likes it, so he ordered it again.
DD ordered the Beef Tortellini with Prosciutto (15.95?) This dish came with a white sauce, but was a bit on the salty side. Not sure if that was due to the prosciutto or something else. She wasn't able to eat much of it.
DS ordered Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken (17.95). This dish was not on the menu, but we asked if they could make it. We were told that "yes", if we want something off menu, just request it and most likely they can make it for you. My son really liked his dish. My favorite fettucine alfredo is from Olive Garden (don't judge me,lol, it really is the best) and to me the Gianfranco's version was a bit on the bland side. But my husband and son still really liked it.
I ordered the Linguine with Chicken, Zucchini, and Mushrooms (this is not the original name) (17.95) This pasta dish is made with a white wine white sauce. It had a mild flavor, almost blandish, but I liked the zucchini and mushrooms. Unfortunately, some of my chicken was overcooked.
Because it was my husband's birthday, they gave him a free dessert. We opted to get the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake and the Tiramisu. The Tiramisu arrived and it was huge! It was fabulous!! The filling was light and airy, we were thoroughly enjoying this dessert. It was so big, it could easily feed the 4 of us. Then the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake came with a candle. I've never had a ricotta type of cheesecake. It's very different and not something I would order again. Ricotta has a grainy texture, so this cheesecake was not the creamy kind of cheesecake we are used to. My husband has had their breadpudding dessert in the past and loved it, so that would be a good option to choose.
Like I said, I'm torn. Half of us liked our food and the other half were so-so. The restaurant is cozy and quaint. Customer service was awesome. I would definitely come back to this restaurant and try a different dish. Only wish I could remember what I had the very first time.:(
Have you tried this restaurant? What did you think?
